Looking Back is a film essay that intertwines Soviet-era home movies shot on film with digital and Super-8 footage shot around modern-day Queens, NY, and Cleveland, OH. A series of phone conversations, heard as voiceover, provide a narrative structured around two simple family anecdotes of surprise discoveries: the first, a bag of gold coins in a toilet tank, and the second, an overlooked embroidery of a defecating dog.
